Green is the color of growth. You will notice that green has more */* creatures (okay and sometimes */*+1 even though I hate it) than any other color. Green’s growth can come from any source (# of creatures in graveyard, elves, cards in hand, etc.)
Blue cares about the hand because it cares about knowledge so the “Maro” ability is both in blue and green.
