I think every game I play I wind up playing a couple words I only know because they were on Magic cards (such as "arcane"). One of my favorite emails was on this topic. A player wrote to me to tell me that he and his mother have played a weekly game of Scrabble ever since he was a little kid. While he enjoyed playing with her, he had never beaten her.
Anyway, they had a close game when he managed to play “taiga”. His mother challenged the word and ended up losing because of it. He said he was jumping up and down. “It’ a word, mom! It’s a word! It’s a forest covered mountain!”
