Red is the color of passionate loyalty. I believe if red is emotional bonded with you, it is very trustworthy.

This works with the idea mentioned by another poster that “love” effects could be printed for Red to make it better in multiplayer. Effects that work with the flavor of love/loyalty to some opponents to help the mage beat the other opponents.

Idea time! If red is the color of loyalty, why not make a mechanic that rewards the player for keeping something on the board long term. This may help the whole “red has no long game strategy” complaints.
