I noticed a few green cards in Avacyn Restored with the ability “Creatures with power less than [CARDNAME]’s power can’t block it” (ex. Howlgeist, or Champion of Lambholt). It seems very powerful (and very Green), and the only card I can think of that had it previously is Aura Gnarlid. Is this a new-ish evasion ability that’s being given to green? Or just any colour that wants it? (And does it have a name?)

We’re experimenting with it as a green thing as it’s a “power matters” ability. I’m curious how it’s received in Avacyn Restored.

derobim said: I love it! It’s evasion that feels very Green. I don’t think it belongs in Red though. For one, First Strike is Red’s power-matters mechanic; for two, Red already has Intimidate, can’t block effects, some flying for evasion and player burn for reach.

mcsleuthburger said: I love this ability! The first thing I did was build a standard deck around these cards. I also agree with the idea that red could use this ability since it likes to pump its power rather than toughness.

blkapricorn said: The best plays my deck could produce at my prerelease were Wandering Wolf + Trusted Forcemage early, then Howlgeist + Wolfir Silverheart. Laying down the latter was almost always GG. I think it’s a great mechanic that could be put into red as well.

qowry said: I think Champion of Lambholt is a bit harder to keep track of, but as a rare card, that’s fine. I like it as a green version of unblockable.
