Any idea of marketing's logic behind the decision to do this?

We didn’t have the resources to put that stuff in every Helvault so we thought it would be fun to have it randomly in some Helvaults. Magic is all about variance in what you open so it felt like it would be a cool way to spice things up.

I’ve gotten plenty of feedback of players upset that some people got stuff they didn’t. How do you all feel? Would you rather have some people randomly get different stuff or have everyone get the same stuff meaning no one gets the extra goodies?

griftermage said: Having different Helvaults contain different things was a good idea with poor execution. People randomly getting *different* stuff is nice and cool. People randomly getting *phenomenally valuable* stuff just breeds envy and resentment in others.

magicjunkie said: I feel like there was too much hype considering how meager and mundane the prizes were. Alternate art playable promos or t-shirts would have been unique compared to items that you can get in other Magic products.
relentlessasrats said: Having only a few stores get much better rewards breeds jealousy among others, rational or not. It would’ve been better to spread the goodies around, such as some getting foil tokens and others getting promos. As is, the difference is too jarring.

adamjury said: I am totally OK with there being random awesome stuff at pre-release events, although I think people are plenty excited already, and that random awesome may be more useful as marketing for Game Day events.

javiersmexicanemporium said: I’m ok with having special helvaults but the difference between a stock one and ones with 100$+ foils is astronomical. I’d much rather the variance be much less drastic.

ezralahm said: Really don’t like it - getting judge foils would be awesome but there would be such a small chance of it happening that it’s bound to breed resentment and anger. A lesser reward spread out evenly seems a little more community-oriented.

huckzors said: I think the random element is fine, as it mirrors the opening of a booster pack: Some people got cool stuff, other people got really cool stuff. As long as everybody gets stuff.
